Been wanting to make a real terrarium for a while, but for now I'll just settle for cutesy faux terrariums. I got the little mushrooms from a craft store in Sweden... or maybe it was Norway. So far I've made a medium sized glass terrarium, teeny tiny one's out of the little plastic containers you get when you buy random crap out of those coin machines, and this latest one.

Shopaholic
So it's Florida... and hot hot hot. I need flip flops, been lusting after some Van's, and yet I walk out with boots. Damn you, PacSun. They are really lightweight though and I will be in Sweden soon. So it makes sense... kind of. Also got me some of the OPI Shatter nail polish. It matched my coffe tumbler which for some reason amused me a lot on my commute to school. Crafty things to come [=

Vodka & Cupcakes
Attended a 21st birthday party on monday. So I made hot fudge sundae cupcakes and blue rasberry Jolly Rancher vodka. Cupcakes were from a "Special Interest" issue from Better Homes and Gardens, dedicated completely to cupcakes.
Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcakes
1 box chocolate cake mix
1 jar hot fudge ice cream topping
2 cans creamy white frosting
1 jar maraschino cherries with stems (well drained)
1 can chopped nuts icecream topping and/or sprinkles
Smucker's Magic Shell or make chocolate ganache
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line pan with baking cups. Prepare batter as directed on the box. After you've filled each cup about 2/3 full with the batter use a spoon to level out the batter in the cups.
2. Place half a tablespoon of room temperature hot fudge icecream topping on the top center of each cupcake. Bake for 16-20 minutes.
3. Let the cupcakes cool completely. Spread frosting over each cupcake. Place the leftover frosting in a pastry bag fitted with a star tip (they sell these at wal-mart).
4. Drizzle Smucker's Magic Shell on top of frosted cupcakes (works best if you use a spoon). Sprinkle with chopped nuts and/or sprinkles (if desired).
5. Pipe the remaining frosting on each cupcake and top off with a cherry.
5. Pipe the remaining frosting on each cupcake and top off with a cherry.
Jolly Rancher Vodka Before/After
For Jolly Rancher vodka you basicly just pop em in with the vodka. If you like it sweet put a whole bunch, if not put less. Shake it up or let it sit overnight. Easy peasy [=

Back in Black
Back in black... and a plaid shirt. Another day, another zombie gnome. This one was for a very good friend of mine who just graduated with her Associate's degree and is getting ready to move on to a University. Congrats Jenny! She wanted me to make her one a while back and I figured it would make a great graduation gift.

Oreo Cake
This has been a busy weekend. My boyfriend's birthday was on saturday, free comic book day, and then Mother's Day today. And then add the stress of upcoming midterms. I made my boyfriend a little
"How to speak Swedish" book out of a mini scrapbook because he's going with me this June to visit family. As well as other little travel related things. I think he liked the Chewy bobble head that I got him from Tate's the best. Kinda hard to compete with that. He loved the oreo cake I baked him though. Got the sandwhich cookie shaped pans from target. I'd love to give out the super special secret recipe but to be honest its just chocolate cake mix with crushed oreo's mixed into the batter and frosting. It also makes really great last minute oreo cupcakes [=

Taco Burger
Had a not so great day today. Just feeling pretty useless and humdrum. Not for any dramatic reason and no i'm not gonna turn this into some emo, "I hate my life" blog. I decided I would make whats left of this day good. So I made some taco burgers and i'm watching Kiki's Delivery Service. This movie always cheers me up. Then I'll have to finish some more school work, unfortunately.
I hate cooking just for myself. It just seems like a huge waste of effort. But this is quick and easy, preshaped ground meat, spicy taco seasoning, cheese, salsa, onions, and you could always add lettuce, jalapeƱos, or whatever else you like. I was just grocery shopping after my night class and brain dead.
